Privacy policy

We collect as little as possible. This page explains what we do collect, why, and how to get it removed.

Who we are

Hype Free Reviews (hypefreereviews.com) publishes product reviews and buying guides. For the purposes of data protection law, Hype Free Reviews is the controller of the limited personal data described below. You can reach us about anything on this page at chenmengting506@gmail.com.

What we collect

Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard request logs — including IP address, user agent, requested URL and timestamp — to serve pages, keep the site available and prevent abuse. These are retained for a limited period.

Email. If you write to us, we keep your message and address so we can reply and, where relevant, correct an article. We do not add you to a mailing list.

Analytics. This site does not currently run an analytics script. If we add one, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for consent before it is set.

Cookies. See the section below.

What we do not collect

  • We do not ask for your name, address or payment details. We do not sell anything directly.
  • We do not run an account system, so there is no password or profile data.
  • We do not buy personal data from data brokers.
  • We do not sell or share personal data for cross-context behavioural advertising.

Cookies and affiliate tracking

When you click an affiliate link, the retailer or the affiliate network places a cookie on your device so that a resulting purchase can be attributed to us. That cookie is set by them, not by us, and its duration is set by their programme terms. It is placed only after you choose to follow an outbound link.

The site itself does not currently set cookies of its own, and nothing here requires a cookie to read. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings without losing access to any content. Blocking a retailer's cookie may mean we do not earn a commission on that purchase, but it does not change what you pay.

Third parties we rely on

  • Hosting and content delivery — to serve pages to you and keep the site online.
  • Affiliate networks and retailers — to attribute purchases and pay commissions.
  • Email providers — to receive and reply to messages you send us.
  • Analytics — none is configured at present; any future provider will be named here.

Product photographs on this site are served from our own domain, not requested from a third party. When you follow an outbound link, you leave this site and the destination's own privacy policy applies. Each third party processes data under its own policy.

Legal bases

Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we rely on the following bases: legitimate interests for serving the site, keeping it secure and responding to correspondence you send us; and consent for any non-essential cookies or analytics, which we would request before setting them. We do not process personal data for automated decision-making or profiling.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of your personal data, to object to processing, and to request data portability. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know what is collected, the right to delete, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information — we do not sell or share personal information, and we do not knowingly collect it from anyone under 16.

To exercise any of these rights, email chenmengting506@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm your identity before acting, and we will not discriminate against you for making a request.

How to complain

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please contact us first so we can put it right. If you are in the UK or EU, you also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority. In California you may contact the California Privacy Protection Agency.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Because we do not run analytics or advertising trackers of our own, there is nothing for us to switch off in response to a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal. If that changes, we will honour those signals where the law requires it and say so here.

Children

This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. Some categories we cover relate to products used by children, but the content is aimed at parents and caregivers.

International transfers

Our service providers may process data outside your country. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

Retention

Server logs are kept for a short period for security purposes. Correspondence is kept for as long as it is useful for editorial accuracy, then deleted. Any future analytics data would be retained in aggregate.

Security

We keep the site on reputable infrastructure, serve it over HTTPS, and limit who can change it. No site can promise perfect security, but we do not hold the kind of data — payments, passwords, health records — that makes a breach catastrophic, because we do not collect it in the first place.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top of the page. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
